Since 2009, Edgar Wright has been dating Pitch Perfect actress Anna Kendrick.

They met on the set of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Edgar’s first U.S. release in 2010.

In October 2013, the Oscar-nominated actress was asked about her relationship with Edgar, but she refused to reveal anything about their romance. She exclaimed:

“He’s good, but I don’t talk about him much.”

Similarly, the actress previously stated in a May 2013 interview with The Guardian that she disliked paparazzi photos of her with Edgar. The couple also encountered difficulties in continuing their relationship because Anna was based in Los Angeles at the time and Edgar was based in London.

And, in 2013, the Shaun of the Dead director called it quits on his relationship with Anna after four years of blissful intimacy.

According to a friend of the couple, Dailymail:

“Anna and Edgar are deeply in love, but their relationship ended amicably. They’re both wonderful, funny people.”

Though the reason for their split is unknown, it appears that distance harmed their relationship.

The same year Edgar divorced Anna, he revealed that the inspiration for the 2004 film Shaun of the Dead was personal to him. He reveals in an interview with “The Sunday Times” newspaper that Shaun was a long apology to his ex-girlfriend. He stated:

“I’m sorry I was ineffective.”

In fact, the director had no contact with the actress Anna in 2004.

So, who was the inspiration for the film?

As it turns out, Edgar has dated more than just the actress; in 2002, he began dating Ash’s former guitarist Charlotte Hatherley. And it appears that his breakup with Charlotte served as an inspiration for him to write such an amazing film.

“Getting Married”; Social Media Family Time

After ending his two relationships, the director does not appear to be in a romantic relationship, but he announced to the world that he was getting married.

The actor appears to have taken a break from dating and is enjoying his family life, as evidenced by his social media posts.

In an April 2017 tweet, he stated that he liked his family’s policy of sending the same e-mail over and over again. On March 11, 2018, he posted a photo of his mother’s birthday celebration on Instagram.
