According to WCBS, Finch died at a local hospital; the reason of her death has not been confirmed.
“Elise has been a friend and team member at WCBS for 16 years,” the station said in a statement. “Elise was a gifted and consummate professional who was meticulous in her work.” She was also an excellent community ambassador, particularly in her birthplace of Mount Vernon. Above all, Elise was a fiercely loving and dedicated mother to her daughter Grace, as well as the wife of Graig Henriques, a WCBS photojournalist.”
Finch, who was last seen on WCBS’s newscast on Friday, July 14, was remembered as a cherished coworker and friend. “Elise was fiercely loyal to those she loved, a straight shooter, a consummate professional, and made me laugh until I cried,” tweeted Jessica Moore, WCBS weekend evening anchor. “But most importantly, she was completely devoted to her family, particularly her daughter Grace.” I adore you, my dear friend. Heaven now has a one-of-a-kind angel.”
“My heart is broken,” WCBS anchor Chris Wragge tweeted. Our group will never be the same again. No one could equal his musical wits. I’ll miss you terribly.”

In April 2007, Finch joined the CBS New York weather team. She previously worked at NBC as a meteorologist for the “Early Today Show,” MSNBC, and NBC Weather Plus. Finch previously worked as a weekend weather anchor at the CBS affiliate in Phoenix, Ariz., and as an anchor and reporter at the CBS and Fox affiliates in Youngstown, Ohio, as well as the ABC network in Austin, Minn. Finch began her television career working behind the scenes at E! Entertainment Television as a production coordinator for special projects and live events.
Elise Dione Finch Henriques grew up in Mount Vernon, New York, and attended Mount Vernon High School. She graduated with honors from Georgetown University, where she got one of the renowned President’s Awards. She then earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University. Finch graduated from Mississippi State University’s broadcast meteorology school and carries the American Meteorological Society’s mark of approval.
