Eric Nally began his musical career in 2003, when he formed the band Train of Thought. Loren Daniel Turner, Joseph Allen Halberstadt, Elijah Rust, Jamison Pack, Teddy Aitkins, and others were among the first members of the band.

In 2004, the band changed its name from Thought of Train to Foxy Shazam. Flamingo Trigger, the band’s self-published debut album, was released in June 2005. Nally and the other members of the band went on a nationwide tour to promote the debut record.
