Ernie Anastos began his journalism career as Ernie Andrews at Boston’s 98.5/WROR radio station. Later, he transitioned to television and spent two years as an anchor at WPRI-TV in Providence until leaving in 1978. He was then hired by WABC-TV to anchor the 11:00 p.m. Eyewitness News broadcast. In 1989, Anastos left WABC to join WCBS-TV as an anchor. In mid-1994, he joined NewsTalk Television, but soon after, he began hosting “Our Home,” a gardening show on Lifetime. In 1997, as an employee of WWOR-TV, he returned to the anchor desk, and four years later, he was back at WCBS as the primary anchor. He left for the second time in 2005, after signing a $10 million five-year contract with WNYW-TV. Ernie Anastos hosted the Fox 5 newscasts at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. He rose through the ranks to become the anchor of the 6 p.m. newscast.
