Magbegor’s parents are Nigerian, and he was born in Wellington, New Zealand on August 13, 1999. Elo and Ovie, two of her four siblings, are American collegiate basketball players. When she was six years old, her family relocated to Canberra, Australia, and she started attending Lake Ginninderra College there.

She performed exceptionally well in both basketball and athletics there, earning her a spot in the Basketball Australia Center of Excellence, a training ground for young, gifted players.

In the 2019 WNBA draft, Magbegor was selected by the Seattle Storm with the 12th overall pick, but she chose to remain in Australia for an additional year in order to complete her coursework and obtain more experience. She signed with the Storm for the 2020 campaign, which was largely spent in a Florida bubble because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
