He became a co-guitarist for the alternative rock group “My Chemical Romance” in 2001. Members included the band’s lead vocalist Gerard Way, co-guitarist Ray Toro, and bassist Mikey Way. On July 23, 2002, the band “My Chemical Romance” released their debut album, “I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love.” The song did not have much success. In 2003, he contributed backing vocals to the song “Black Duct Tape” from the hardcore punk and metalcore band “The Banner’s” album “Your Murder Mixtape.” ‘My Chemical Romance’s’ album ‘Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge’ received overwhelmingly excellent reviews.
