They initially met in Florence, Italy, in 2001, when Mazar’s friend Katia Labèque was playing at Madonna’s wedding to Guy Ritchie, which Gabriele also attended. Following that, the 55-year-old actress agreed to be shackled to Gabriele for the entire month of August, and the two fell madly in love.

After dating for two years, the couple married in a small ceremony on March 16, 2002. The wedding ceremony was officiated by Ellen Burstyn. Gabriele left his family in Fiesole after the marriage and relocated to Los Angeles with his wife, Deborah.
