In 1979, he also had cartoons appear in a Seattle-area newspaper under the heading “Nature’s Way.” His cartoons were printed every week.
He then explored raising his income by offering another publication his cartoon “Nature’s Way.”
So, while he was in San Francisco, he submitted his cartoon idea to the San Francisco Chronicle, who amusingly bought it and encouraged its dissemination. The name was altered to “the far side.” It initially appeared on January 1st, 1980. The final strip for the far side, which ran for 15 years, debuted on January 1st, 1995. Calendars, animated versions for television, and greeting cards are just a few of the publications that featured Larson’s cartoons.
In 1994, at the age of 44, Larson decided to end his career because he didn’t want his themes to get too stale. Since then, he has produced artwork for his far side goods and magazine images. He avoids public attention and would rather remain incognito.
