He died after constantly telling the authorities that he couldn’t breathe. After getting a tip from a cashier that George was circulating a counterfeit $20 bill, the cops detained him. Derek Chauvin, the officer who killed him, has been charged with murder. The case of The State of Minnesota v. Derek Michael Chauvin is still proceeding as of April 16, 2021.

The officers observed George was unresponsive in the last two minutes and called for an ambulance, but Derek kept his knee on Floyd’s neck, and when emergency medical technicians arrived, they did nothing to save him. Floyd died of hypoxia due to neck and back compression, according to the postmortem report, and there was no underlying medical ailment that would cause death. Following a lawsuit, the Minneapolis city council granted a $ 27 million compensation to Floyd’s family on March 12, 2021.

After a year, George was finally given the justice he deserved by the Jury. Derek Chauvin, the accused cop in the death of George Floyd, has finally been found guilty of murder and manslaughter. Derek was charged with pinning George to the concrete with his knee, causing him to become unable to breathe and succumb to his injuries. George Floyd’s Professional Life

He became increasingly involved with the Resurrection Houston, a Christian church, after his release in January 2013, where he mentored young men and released anti-violence videos to social media.

In 2019, George worked as a security guard at the El Nuevo Rodeo club, where off-duty police officer Derek Chauvin also worked. Floyd was detained on May 25, 2020, after reportedly passing a counterfeit $20 cash at a supermarket store. While Floyd was tied and face down in the street, a police officer named Derek Chauvin pressed his knee to George’s neck for more than 8 minutes.
