Toni Morrison is an African-American author and Nobel Prize winner who was born Chloe Wofford on February 18, 1931, in Lorain, Ohio. Later, at the age of 12, she converted to Catholicism and took the baptismal name Anthony, after St. Anthony, which gave rise to her nickname Toni.

Morrison attended Howard University after graduating from Lorain High School, where she earned a degree in English in 1953. In 1955, she earned her master’s degree from Cornell University.

Morrison spent many years in academia in addition to her career as a writer and editor. She was a professor of English at Texas Southern University and Howard University. She later returned to teaching, and from 1989 to 2006, she was a professor at Princeton University.

Wife of Harold Morrison

It was 1956 when he first met her. They’ve been together ever since then! Apparently, they first met when the Nobel Prize winner was an instructor at Texas University in Houston for two years. Now he married his wife in 1958. The name of her is “Chole Ardelia Wofford.”

Their two sons are Harold Ford Morrison and Slade Marrison. In later years, they have two grandchildren. This is not the case with Slade Morrison. He died in his early 40s of pancreatic cancer. He also worked on five children’s books with his mother, and he helped write them all.

To write Toni’s book “The Big Box,” Slade wrote it when he was just eight years old. A Princeton University architect named Harold Ford Morrison is the eldest son of Morrison, who founded the company. As of 2016, he said, “It’s so great to see her keep doing what she does!” Because of how good she was at writing, as a child, I was awestruck and intrigued by her work. Beloved was a big deal. The idea of killing one’s children to keep them from being sold into slavery has become more popular.”

Because Harold and Toni had a lot of problems in their marriage, they split up in 1964. His second wife (name withheld) then married him again, but the two of them broke up in 2002.

It was in 1993 that Toni Morrison became the first African-American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, and she worked as an editor, a professor, an essayist, and a novelist all her life. In 1970, her first book, “The Bluest Eye,” came out.

“Song of Solomon” came out in 1997 and was a huge hit. In 1987, “Beloved” won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction and an Anisfield-Wolf Book Award.
