Prichard Colón won five national championships in his early career in the 141- and 152-pound weight classes. Moreover, he won the 64 kg gold medal at the 2010 Pan American Youth Tournament.

Colón finished his amateur boxing career with a 170-15 record after electing to pursue a professional boxing career in 2012. On February 23, 2013, Colón made his professional debut at the Cosme Beita Salamo against Xavier La Salle, and won by first-round knockout. Nobody anticipated that the bout between Colón and Williams in the EagleBank Arena on October 17, 2015, would be Colón’s final. Nonetheless, the professional boxers engaged in a nine-round fight. Colón took the lead after the first five rounds. Terrel Williams then continued to illegally hit Colón in the back of the head.

Colón was treated at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia, and Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia throughout his 221-day coma. The former champion boxer was diagnosed as being in a persistent vegetative state. Colón is currently recovering in his mother’s Florida home, and his health has greatly improved.
