Iana Salenko was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, on July 19, 1983. Her current age is 39 years old. She has five siblings, and both of her parents worked in restaurants. She began with gymnastics and folk dancing. When she was 12, her father enrolled her in a ballet school.
Even though it was late, Salenko began to focus on ballet. When she was 14 years old, she was given a place at the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in St. Petersburg, but her mother felt it was too far away, so she instead studied at Vadim Pisarev’s academy in Donetsk, which is 400 miles from Kyiv. Started dancing with Pisarev and his Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theatre troupe at the age of 15.
