On December 20, 1982, She was born in Kyiv, Ukrainian SSR. She developed a strong passion for acting at a young age. Elkin, for instance, began taking ballet classes when she was three years old. Janina studied at the Kyiv government dance academy in 1986.
Janina’s family emigrated from Ukraine to Germany when she was 10 years old. She began her training at the Mannheim State Ballet Academy in 1998. Additionally, she received a scholarship to the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York City, where she studied for three years. Elin attended acting workshops in both the Meisner technique and method acting in 2014.
