Jennifer Anne Lien is a former American actress best known for her portrayal of Alien Kes on the television series Star Trek: Voyager. She is the youngest of her parents’ three children. She stated that she had a difficult childhood. She was a tomboy who enjoyed writing plays, reading books, and watching television. She discovered acting to be the best fit for her because she found peace in drama and acting stuff when she was in seventh grade and continued it, allowing her to pursue a career in acting. She made her first career move after appearing in a bubblegum commercial as twins.
She is a married lady. Her husband is a writer and director. They’ve been together for over a decade and are still going strong. They have a son who is now in his adolescence. She retired from acting after giving birth to her son, but she continued to give voice to the characters. She is a lady with thick skin. She has been arrested three times for various reasons. However, there are no rumors about her circulating in the media.
Career
Lien’s first television appearance was as twins in a bubble gum commercial. Her first television appearance was as a music academy student in a 1990 episode of Brewster Place, which starred Oprah Winfrey. The same year, she lent her voice to the English-dubbed version of Baby Blood, a French horror film. Lien relocated to New York in 1991 after landing the role of Hannah Moore on the soap opera Another World. While working on this series, she attended and graduated from the Professional Children’s School.
Lien stated in a 1992 interview: “When I was trying to get an audition for a baseball movie a few years ago, I mentioned that I could play baseball. We used to play a lot in the backyard when I was younger. But when I arrived at the audition, I was confronted by these Goliath-like, testosterone-fueled women who could really play. I made it through the two days of training and auditions, but I pretty much pulled every muscle in my body!”
Lien was cast as Roanne in Phenom, a sitcom starring Judith Light, in 1993. She also appeared on Adam Sandler’s comedy album They’re All Gonna Laugh At You, where she played the Valedictorian on the track “The Buffoon And The Valedictorian” and one of the daughters on the track “Oh, mom…”.
Lien was cast as Kes in Star Trek: Voyager in 1994. Her character is an Ocampan, a species in the Star Trek universe that lives only eight to nine years and joins the crew of the starship after it becomes stranded 70,000 light-years from Earth. In the same year, Lien provided the voice of Valerie Fox in The Critic’s pilot episode.
