She began her career as a model for renowned photographer Brian Duffy. Also she worked as a house model for Jean Muir. Then she featured on the Bruce Forsyth show in 1966, and three years later in a television commercial for “Nimble Bread.” She subsequently began her acting career without any professional training, obtaining her first tiny role in the film “Some Girls Do” in 1969, followed by On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in 1970.

After demonstrating her abilities, she began to receive more acting jobs, including famous ones in Coronation Street.  In 1996 and 2005, she appeared in James and the Giant Peach and Corpse Bride, respectively. Then, from 1976 to 1977, she received her first major part as Purdey in “The New Avengers,” in which she starred in all 26 episodes. Then she acted alongside David McCallum in the 1979 series “Sapphire & Steel.” The film was followed by another feature appearance as Patsy Stone from “Absolutely Fabulous,” a BBC comedy television series (1992-1996, 2001-2004, and 2011-2012)
