On April 9th, 2021, at White Plains Hospital, New York, one of the most successful and soulful rappers passed away. He was the first musical artist to have his first five albums go to number one on the Billboard Charts. On the 2nd of April, DMX was admitted to the hospital after having a heart attack caused by a d*ug overdose at his residence. He was in a coma the next day. According to the report, he died as a result of the loss of function in several vital organs, including the lungs, liver, and kidney. His entire family was at his side for his final breath, including his fiancee Desiree Lindstrom, ex-wife Tashera Simmons and Yadira Borrego, and mother Arnett Simmons. He was 50 years old and the father of fifteen children.

Parents at teenage

During their adolescence, Joe and his partner Arnett Simmons became parents. When Joe became the father of DMX, he was only 18 years old. When Arnett was born, she was 19 years old. Bonita, her two-year-old daughter, was already hers. Arnett’s prior relationship resulted in the birth of Bonita.

Joe Barker abandoned his son in the care of a controlling mother

Joe had been a stay-at-home dad for most of his son’s life. He was adamant about not interfering in his son’s life. He went to Philadelphia when DMX was seven years old, putting him in the care of a physically abusive mother who would vent her fury and frustration on him. As a child growing up in poverty, DMX began robbing to make ends meet, which eventually escalated and landed him in jail several times.

He grew increasingly dangerous, to the point where he could kill anyone who dared to mess with him. He was out of control at the age of 11 and was sent to The Children’s Village, a reform school. He improved his beatboxing skills during his 18 months at the academy, and after he graduated, he teamed up with local rapper Ready Ron. He also began the habit of smoking c*ack with Ready Ron, which eventually became an important part of his life. He began to pilfer and steal more since he was desperate for c*ack. At the age of 14, he was incarcerated. He channeled his wrath into poetry, which kept him alive and gave his life meaning. In an interview, DMX stated that he loved his father even when he wasn’t around.

She became a single mother after Joe abandoned his wife and children. She gave them physical abuse and hate instead of love and caring. In many ways, their failure to be good parents devastated their son. An innocent child who yearned for his parents’ affection and attention was abandoned. He had suffered from an abusive, neglected, and awful mother throughout his youth, which led him down the path of crime and addiction, the same addiction that claimed his life today.
