Joe Zolper is a familiar face to viewers of the Garage Squad television show. Along with co-hosts Bruno Massel and Lauren Bohlander, he is the show’s lead mechanic, also known as the lead builder. The squad selects ordinary people who have “real project cars” and brings them expert assistance. They demonstrate to each owner how to complete their DIY dream projects.
Joe Zolper is the owner and chief mechanic of Joliet, Illinois-based Prison City Choppers. He has been working as a mechanic there for over fourteen years. He has also been drag racing since he was sixteen, primarily for fun.

Joe Zolper was born on July 4, 1977. He comes from a mechanical family. He used to work on dirt bikes and help his father and brother with their cars when he was a kid. This is why Joe believes he was destined to be a mechanic.
He had wanted to be a diesel mechanic since he was in third grade. He used to disassemble his toys to figure out how they worked. Furthermore, growing up on his grandfather’s farm taught him to be more creative with the tools at his disposal.
Wife’s Married Life
Joe Zolper and Jennifer (Jenny) Zolper, a businesswoman and professional racecar driver, married in the year 2000. Jennifer’s experience with the sport stemmed from her relationship with her husband, Joe, one of the many positive aspects of the union. She began her career by using her wedding money to purchase a 1971 black Dodge Demon car, which she later restored with the help of her family and friends.
Jennifer shared her thoughts on how car racing has been a big part of the Zolper family in an interview with DRAGZINE on June 2nd, 2018. In her own words:
Racecars can bring or break a family, but in our case, they bring us closer together and provide a great learning experience for us and our daughter.
Joe and Jennifer are now the parents of a daughter named Ruby Zolper. Ruby, like her parents, is a natural when it comes to car racing. She began her junior dragster career in 2017 and finished second to the other junior dragsters at the Route 66 award ceremony in 2018. She received a jacket and a trophy as part of her prize.
Joe stated on social media on the 18th of January 2020 that his wife has been fighting an infection from knee surgery since March 2019. As a result, she has been confined to the couch for nearly a year as of the date.
