Russell had a reputation for being a heavy smoker. He began smoking at the age of ten and has continued to do so ever since. Russell has acknowledged to smoking more than 60 cigarettes per day on several occasions, and he has been doing so for more than 36 years. He also stated that he had quit smoking for himself and his two sons.
