Career and education
Julia went to Cheltenham’s Airthrie Preparatory School, then Oxford’s Headington School. She graduated from the University of Sussex with a BA in English Literature in 1969. Julia began working at IPC Publisher’s Homes and Gardens magazine after college. She then worked for two years as an editor for a computer group’s magazine. Julia joined the BBC as a sub-editor in the radio newsroom in 1972. She was elevated to the position of reporter in 1978. In 1981, she was promoted to Labor Affairs correspondent, and in 1983, she joined BBC Television News. She was one of the most well-known faces on television after co-presenting the BBC Nine O’Clock News. She went on to work for ITN in 1987, where she hosted News at Ten and co-hosted the Lunchtime News. She’s also the host of 3D, a weekly ITV current affairs show.

Julia married Ray Gowdridge in 1984, but the couple divorced in 1992. Her second spouse gave her two children, Joseph and Rachael. Julia is currently married to Sir Jeremy Dixon. Her current partner works as an architect. She has a daughter as well. In 1995, Julia and her current husband, Jeremy, were detained by the Metropolitan Police. Their arrest was due to the fact that they had sent their daughter’s naked photo to be printed. The couple had submitted a few photos to Boots the Chemist in London to be printed, one of which was of their daughter naked in a bathtub.
Police were waiting for Jeremy when he went to get the images, and his residence was later searched. Julia and Jeremy were both suspects, and both were investigated further. The claims, however, were ultimately abandoned.
