At the advanced age of 28, Julius Francis begins his professional boxing career by knocking out Graham Arnold in the fifth round. He then goes on to defeat Damien Caesar and Keith Fletcher to win the Southern Area title in 1995. When Scott Welch, a hard-hitting competitor, came from behind to knock him out in 10 rounds after being far ahead in the points after nine rounds, he wasted a significant opportunity. Then, in a bout in Russia, he was defeated by local fighter Nikolai Kulpin on points, and in 1995, in London, he was defeated by Michael Murray by a questionable decision.

He defeated Michael Holden and earned his biggest victory to date in 1996 when he defeated former victim Caesar in the first round to defend his Southern Area crown. Additionally, he declared in 2007 that he would face Gary Turner in his mixed martial arts debut at Cage Rage 23: Unbelievable on September 22, 2007. He was defeated by Turner in MMA by TKO (punches only) at 2:15 of round 2. Additionally, in 2012, he played the lead role in the stage production of Ring Envy.
