By then, Nirbhaya was on a ventilator and in a critical condition.Drs. also stated that there was no medical justification for moving her. Nirbhaya, however, was airlifted to Singapore’s Mt. Elizabeth Hospital. Sadly, she passed away on December 29, 2012, two weeks after the attack.But in the hospital, she gave two police statements before she passed away. She stated that she wanted the six attackers to face justice as a result.

The case of Nirbhaya sparked protests and demonstrations in India. The four adult defendants, Mukesh Singh (Ram Singh’s brother), Akshay Thakur, Vinay Sharma, and Pawan Gupta, were found guilty of rape and murder on September 10, 2013. They were then given a hanging death sentence three days later.Nirbhaya also wished that the men would be “burned alive” before passing away. Her parents, who had been calling for them to be hanged, also expressed satisfaction with the sentences.Following her rape in 2012, there was a significant increase in the number of rape arrests in 2013.
