KPIX-TV in San Francisco was where Tong began her professional journalism career. She subsequently became a co-anchor on California’s KCRA-TV from 5 to 11 p.m. December 1979 newscasts Kaity came to WABC-TV in New York City in 1981, where Linda Church was also working. However, she was sacked from WABC-TV in 1991 for a variety of factors, including her high income, family history, and age. She then joined WPIX as the network’s first female anchor in 1992.
