At the 2013 Gardena Spring Trophy, where she made her international debut, she won gold in the novice division. She placed fourth at the 2015 U.S. International Classic, an ISU Challenger Series (CS) competition and her first senior international, during the 2015–16 season. She placed eighth in the 2016 U.S. Championships in January after taking home a bronze medal at her second CS assignment, the 2015 Golden Spin of Zagreb, which took place in December. She finished sixth at the 2016 NHK Trophy and seventh at the 2016 Cup of China during the 2016–17 campaign. She set a new U.S. record with her short program score of 72.82 and took first place in both the short program and free skate to win the gold medal at the 2017 U.S. Championships.

At the World Figure Skating Championships in 2017, she bounced back and finished fifth in the short program with a score of 69.98. She participated in her second Grand Prix competition at Skate America in the 2017–18 season and finished ninth in the short program despite failing to nail a triple loop. She won the overall bronze medal at the 2018 U.S. Championships after finishing third in the short program and fourth in the free skate. She was also chosen to represent the United States at the 2018 World Championships in Milan, Italy, as well as the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Following an injury in the off-season, she withdrew from early season competitions, her Grand Prix assignments, the 2018 Grand Prix of Helsinki, and the 2018 Rostelecom Cup in the 2018–19 season. At the 2018 CS Tallinn Trophy, where she made a comeback, she placed tenth in the short program. In early January, she subsequently withdrew from the 2019 U.S. Championships in order to prioritize her health.
