Karun Nair was born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India, on December 6, 1991. His mother is Prema Nair, while his father is Kaladharan Nair. His Malay parents gave birth to him. Nair is from Kerala, although his family has lived in Bengaluru, the state capital of Karnataka, for a very long period.

ODI Debut for Karun Nair | International Career & Records
Karun Nair made his ODI debut on June 11, 2016, in a three-match series against Zimbabwe. India was attempting to reach a score of 168 in his first game. Nair introduced KL Raul there.
But regrettably, he could only muster 7 runs, falling short of the double-digit mark. Nair’s debut was thus forgettable. But India still defeated Pakistan by 9 wickets.

The India team was, however, recalled for India’s first test series against Australia in 2017. However, his subsequent four innings included dismal runs of 26, 0, 23, and 5. Nair hasn’t participated in any format for India since that time.

Nair made his first-class debut for Karnataka during the 2013–14 Ranji trophy. Nair won the contest in his debut year. In their final league game, he also scored three hundred-point runs in a row. He reached the century mark twice during the knockout stage, including once against Punjab in the semifinals when Nair notched a 151.
Later, Karnataka won the Ranji Trophy once more during the 2014–15 season. Nair finished the event with 709 points after 10 games. Nair became the second player from Karnataka to achieve a triple hundred after a knock of 328. Similarly, since 1946–1947, just one player has scored a triple hundred in the Ranji Trophy final. The Ranji final saw Karun post the greatest run total of any batter with his performance.

Nair was released by Punjab prior to the IPL auction in 2021. Nair was subsequently purchased by the two-time IPL winner Kolkata Knight Riders for the 2021 IPL season.
