Professional life and career

Sowers began her American football career as a member of the Woman’s Football Alliance while at Gohem. She began her career with the West Michigan Mayhem before moving on to the Kansas City Titans. She was a member of the United States women’s national football team, who won the 2013 IFAF Women’s World Championship. She retired from the WFA in 2016 due to a hip problem.

Sowers began his NFL career as a wide receiver intern with the Atlanta Falcons in the summer of 2016. In June 2017, she joined the San Francisco 49ers as part of the Bill Walsh Minority Fellowship. Until her elevation to offensive assistant in 2018, she worked as a seasonal offensive assistant.
