In terms of his career, Keith Morrison began his career in 1966. He began his career as a reporter for the Saskatoon Star Phoenix before moving on to radio and then television. He worked as a reporter or anchor for local television stations in Saskatchewan, Vancouver, British Columbia, and Toronto, Ontario. In 1973, he became a newsreader for CTV’s Canada AM, where he also worked as a reporter, weekend anchor, and producer.
He also received recognition for his coverage of the Yom Kippur War while working as a reporter for CTV. In addition, from 1975 to 1976, he was a reporter on CTV National News, and from 1976 to 1979, he was National Affairs Correspondent and substitute anchor on the show.
He later joined the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in 1982. From 1984 to 1985, he co-hosted Midday, the network’s noon-hour newsmagazine that he helped create.
Furthermore, in 1986, he relocated to Los Angeles to work as the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. news anchors for KNBC-TV. In 1988, he joined NBC News as a west coast correspondent for NBC Nightly News and the Today Show. Morrison also covered the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests.
Morrison returned to Canada in 1992 to co-anchor CTV’s leading national morning news program, Canada AM. On PBS, he also hosted The Editors. Morrison then returned to NBC in 1995 as a Dateline NBC correspondent, a position he still holds as of 2020.
