Kirsten made her acting debut in a short comedy film named Sometimes Santa’s Gotta Get Whacked in 1998. After that, it took a while to appear on the screen until 2004, when she made her television debut in 2004. She was in the sitcom Phil of the Future, where she portrayed the role of Veronica.
She got her breakthrough in 2005 when she was cast in the crime drama TV show, Criminal Minds as Penelope Grace Garcia. Initially, she only had a guest appearance but later went on to be the main cast of the series. She acted alongside Mandy Patinkin, Shemar Moore, Thomas Gibson, Matthew Gray Gubler, Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, and Paget Brewster.
The series also has two of its spin-off shows, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour (2011) and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (2016-17), where she has had recurring roles.
In 2010, she landed an amazing portrayal in the series, Pretty the Series, for which she was highly admired by the audience. She was even nominated twice for the Best Supporting Actress at the Indie Series Awards.
