To earn the honor, he defeats Nate Jones in round three. On December 14, 2002, he defeated Tommy Martin to win the vacant WBC Continental Americas heavyweight title as well as the WBO–NABO heavyweight title.
Lamon defeated Wladimir Klitschko to win the WBO heavyweight title on April 10, 2004. He went on to win the title three more times before succumbing to Siarhel Liakhovich on July 7, 2007. On August 20, 2008, he won the WBA-NABA heavyweight title by knocking out Danny Vatcheder in the fifth round. Later in his career, he had one win and two losses. Lamon Brewster announced his retirement as a professional boxer on January 9, 2011.
