Recount confirms Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert’s victory in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District.
The Colorado secretary of state said this week that a recount confirmed that Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert defeated Democrat Adam Frisch in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District.
Secretary of State Jena Griswold reported in a news release Monday that Boebert garnered 50.06% of the final vote total, while Frisch received 49.89%. The net vote change gained Frisch one more vote, while Boebert lost three.
In the statement, Griswold termed Colorado’s elections “safe, secure, and accurate.”
Frisch surrendered the contest last month, but the Colorado secretary of state’s office conducted an automatic recount. Any contest in Colorado that is decided by a margin of 0.5% or less of the votes cast for the top finisher is automatically recounted.

In a live Facebook speech last month, the Democrat stated that he did not request a recount and did not anticipate the results to alter. Frisch further stated that he did not want any fundraising to take place.
The closeness of this race took many political watchers by surprise.
In the 2020 election, Boebert received 51.4% of the vote. After redistricting, the seat, which former President Donald Trump would have carried by roughly 8 percentage points in 2020, became more Republican.
The district, which includes the western and southern parts of the state, including Grand Junction, has a majority of White population.
Frisch, a Democratic local businessman and former Aspen city councilman, framed the race as a referendum on the conservative lawmaker’s contentious term in Washington.
The representative gained news in March when she yelled during President Joe Biden‘s State of the Union address as he highlighted supporting US soldiers, as well as her erroneous claim in 2021 that Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar was a terrorist, for which she later apologized.
In a GOP primary that year, Boebert, a political newbie in 2020, defeated Rep. Scott Tipton. She gained traction in Colorado by portraying herself as a close ally of Trump.
