Career of Layla El:

Layla El began her professional career as a dancer for Carnival Cruise Lines and the National Basketball Association’s Miami Heat. As part of the Miami Heat dancing company, she won the championship ring. She was hired as a backup dancer for John Legend and performed onstage with him. She also performed at the MTV Video Music Awards for Kayne West. Layla began her professional wrestling career in 2006 when her trainer advised she enter the $250k ‘WWE Diva Search tournament.’ She soon rose to the top of the competition, winning two individual events, an obstacle course, and a talent show. She then took first place in the overall competition.

On SummerSlam, Layla made her formal WWE debut in a backstage segment with several other divas. SummerSlam is a professional wrestling pay-per-view event that takes place every year. She debuted on SmackDown! in September 2009, with Michelle McCool. Similarly, she tricked The Miz and embarrassed him at the No Mercy PPV event in October by having Big Dick Johnson perform a lap dance while he was blindfolded, thinking it was a birthday gift from her. Following that, she won a dance competition alongside the SmackDown! Divas.
In a Diva Trick-or-Treat Battle Royal, Layla made her ring debut as well. The match, however, ended in controversy when she was yanked from the ring by The Miz, giving Kristal the victory.

She also paired with Big Vito in a SmackDown loss to The Miz and Kristal in the ‘Mixed tag team match’ episode. She debuted in a singles match after her dispute with Kristal, but she was defeated by Kristal. In a tag team match, she teamed up with Ashley Massaro to defeat Kristal and Jillian Hall in the most recent SmackDown! brand match.
She also joined the Extreme Championship Wrestling brand on January 23, 2007, where she formed Extreme Expose with Brooke and Kelly Kelly. The weekly dancing component was choreographed by her. The alliance was split on November 1st, as Brooke was released from her WWE contract, forcing Layla to join the ongoing feud with Kelly, which included active-in-ring responsibilities.

At Survivor Series, her team was defeated in the 10-Diva tag team match. She established an alliance with Victoria and Lena Yada as a result of this, while maintaining her hatred with Kelly. In the same month, she was a member of the victorious side in six-on-six Divas contests at the Backlash PPV. In the sixth WWE draft in 2008, Layla was selected for the RAW brand. She made her debut with Jilian Hall in a tag team bout, losing to Kelly and Mickie James. She also appeared in the tale as Jamie Noble triumphed over his foes. On the following episode of Raw, she made Noble worthy in the Regal by doing so. Similarly, she competed in the matches over the next few months, spending her time guiding Regal and seeing him defeat Santino Marella from ringside. She won the WWE Intercontinental Championship as a result of this.

Layla was then drafted to the SmackDown brand in the seventh WWE draft as part of the Supplemental Draft. While feuding with Eve Torres, she was defeated in both a dance and an arm wrestling match. After their defeat on WWE Superstars, Eve and Layla’s rivalry came to an end. Following that, she formed a professional wrestling tag team with Michelle McCool, which was subsequently dubbed LayCool. In the Survivor Series PPV, Cool’s team fell to James’ squad. With this, she threw a wrench into McCool and James’ WWE Women’s Championship showdown at TLC (Tables, Ladders, and Chairs).

LayCool used this to defeat James in a handicap match overseen by Official SmackDown Consultant Vickie Guerrero in February. Following that, LayCool defeated Raw’s Gail Kim and Maryse in the Divas tag team match on the Elimination Chamber PPV. Similarly, LayCool faced Beth Phoenix in the two-on-one handicap match, which Layla pinned to win the Women’s Championship for the first time. She was the first woman from the United Kingdom to win the title. The co-champions women’s were then LayVool.

They also competed in events like ‘Money in the Bank PPV,’ ‘WWE Divas Champion Melina,’ ‘WWE Unified Divas Championship,’ and ‘Survivor Series,’ among others. They did, however, appear in a series of vignettes attending couples therapy after losing the Divas Championship. Similarly, during one of their storyline therapy sessions on SmackDown on April 22nd, Cool attacked Layla. She was also attacked by Cool after losing a match to Eve. LayCool and Layla competed in a no-count-out, no-disqualification, loser-leaves-WWE match on the Extreme rules, which Layla won.

She did, however, sustain a knee injury at the Extreme Rules, which necessitated surgery after the anterior cruciate and medical collateral ligaments were torn. On March 22, 2012, Layla returned to the ring for the first time since her surgery at the ‘Florida Championship Wrestling.’ In the WWE Divas Championship match at the Extreme Rules PPV, she replaced Beth Phoenix on the main roster. She defeated Nikki Bella and won the WWE Divas Championship despite interference from Brie Bella. Her victory also made her the Diva Search winner, as she took home both the Women’s Championship and the Divas title.

She then retained twice against Beth Phoenix after defeating Bella Twins in a triple threat match. In the non-title match, she defeated Torres to set up the title match. In addition, in the number one contenders match for the championship on RAW, she was defeated by Kaitlyn. Similarly, she competed in the TLC PPV’s battle royal against Torres for the championship, but lost. Layla, like AJ Lee, Kaitlyn, Alicia Fox, and Emma, competed in several matches. Similarly, she and Rae attacked Fandango and formed an alliance on the SmackDown rematch in July. They dubbed themselves the Slayers after their first match as a team.

They defeated Rosa Mendes and Natalya in their first match as a team. They were a member of Team Paige at the Survivor Series, but they were eliminated from the match. Layla returned to the Main Event episode in January 2015 after undergoing surgery and defeating Emma in the Singles match. Layla then announced on July 29th that she was retiring from professional wrestling. After winning the Diva Search, Layla modeled for several magazines, including ‘King’ and ‘Smooth.’ She was also chosen to be the cover girl for the first issue of the magazine ‘Liquid.’ She was also featured alongside Beth Phoenix and Candice Michelle in the February 2009 issue of ‘Flex Magazine.’ She also posed with members of Extreme Expose for the men’s lifestyle magazine FHM.

She and other WWE Divas also appeared in Timbaland and The Hives’ “Throw It On Me” music video. She also featured alongside other WWE divas on five episodes of ‘Family Feud’ and the week’s challenge on ‘Project Runway.’
Layla also appeared on the ‘Celebrity Fit Club Boot Camp’ as a trainer. She also appeared on an episode of ‘Cupcake Wars’ as a guest star. In WWE video games such as ‘SmackDown vs. Raw 2009,’ ‘SmackDown vs. Raw 2011,’ ‘DLC,’ ‘WWE’12,’ ‘WWE’13,’ ‘WWE2K14,’ and ‘WWE2K16,’ she made her in-game debut.’
