She was expelled from her elite private school in Manhattan and made to transfer to a campus in Connecticut.  Leah, however, eventually found her calling via her years of education.

When she was an adult, she started her own clothing business, Married to the Mafia. The company started off modestly enough, but over time it developed into a highly popular style that is worn by a number of famous people, including Lady Gaga.

In 2010, McSweeney made a special appearance on “The Millionaire Matchmaker” on the Bravo network. Reviewers gave her Matchmaker performance positive feedback, which led to cameo parts and guest appearances on other TV shows like VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York. Leah writes a piece for Hypebeast on a daily basis where she covers topics including motherhood, street style, and fitness. She also contributes to the advice section of Penthouse magazine.

Leah joined Lip Service of Power 105.1’s Angela Yee’s Shade 45 as a regular recurring artist in 2015. The very next year, she launched Inappropriate Etiquette with Hot 97’s Laura Stylez. On the podcast, which occasionally features notable celebrities, McSweeneyLeahand Stylez offers candid opinions and guidance on current events and living problems.

Leah was allegedly observed entering The Real Housewives of New York City’s set in August 2019 after being spotted filming with fellow actor Tinsley Mortimer. In November 2019, she attended Bravo’s “BravoCon” fan event and made an announcement about the project. Leah was suggested for production by former participant Bethenny Frankel, who left the program after the previous season.

Leah didn’t extend her contract unless she was certain of higher compensation. She only received $3,000 for each episode during her 12-season tenure. During season two, she has officially joined The Real Housewives of New York City as a full-time cast member.
