He did positional exercises, the short shuttle, the three-cone drill, and the vertical. NFL draft analysts and experts ranked him in the top ten at the conclusion of the pre-draft process. He was named the best second linebacker in the draft, as well as the third-best outside linebacker, according to NFLDraftScout.com. In a similar vein, Sports Illustrated ranked him as the sixth best linebacker in the NFL.

The Chicago Bears selected Floyd in the first round of the NFL Draft in 2916. Floyd made his first career obstruction when he stopped Buffalo Bills quarterback Nathan Peterman, who returned the ball for a 19-yard score. In a 24-17 victory, he sacked Aaron Rodgers twice. He finished the season with 49 tackles, four sacks, and a pick-six to lead the team. Pro Football Focus gave him a 69.6 grade, which was the 42nd highest among all qualifying edge rushers. He was named an alternate for the Pro Bowl.

In 2019 and 2021

As his team fell 10-3, he made four tackles and twice blocked Aaron Rodger. Floyd’s contract was terminated on March 17, 2020, after he lost the game 22-14. He also signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams. Floyd finally won the game with a score of 30–20.

In the Rams’ 30–27 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Divisional Round, Floyd was the last player in NFL history to sack Tom Brady.
