In November 2017 at the Malaysia International Challenge, he competed in his first senior final but lost to fellow countryman Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin.

Additionally, he qualified for the Thailand Masters final in January 2018 and lost to second seed Tommy Sugiarto. In April 2018, he triumphed against his countryman Cheam June Wei to win his maiden senior championship at the Finnish Open. He suffered two hip injuries towards the close of 2018, though, and his position in the world dropped from 40th to 120th. He has also participated in the BWF International Challenge (a grade 3 and level 1 competition) and the BWF International Series (which is a grade 3 and level 2 tournament).
