Before taking on the role of assistant coach with the Buckeyes, Luke Fickell played nose guard for the Ohio State University football team from 1993 to 1996.
He was Ohio State’s temporary head coach for the full 2011 season.
Fickell started his playing career at St. Francis DeSales High School, where he won three wrestling state championships and was a two-time first-team All-Ohio defensive tackle.
