Born on September 27, 1960, Maria Celeste Arraras is the daughter of José Enrique Arraras and Brenda Lopez de Arraras. Her father is a politician, a sports star, a lawyer, and a teacher, among other things. She went to Loyola University of New Orleans in Louisiana in 1978, and she studied there. She got her degree in communications and public relations.

Before she was old enough to drive, she had a lot of fun swimming. She competed in a lot of swimming competitions, and she won three medals at the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championships. Because she was sick, she had to leave the 1976 Summer Olympics. At a small Puerto Rican TV station called Channel 24, Maria started her broadcasting career in 1986. She was a news anchor and a reporter for the station.

Her job as a co-anchor for a Univision station in New York City was given to her in 1987. Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste was on Telemundo when she left the channel in 2002.
