When the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie C began in 2006, Marcelo Martins Moreno, who began his career with Oriente Petrolero, was chosen as the team’s first striker and finished with 12 goals, four fewer than the competition’s best scorer. Also, he was given his first call-up on September 12 for a friendly match against Peru, then on November 20, 2007, against Venezuela, in a World Cup qualifying match, he scored his first two goals for his country.
