Marcus Mariota isn’t going to let his time on the bench in Tennessee define his career:

The Tennessee Titans revealed earlier this week that Marcus Mariota, the former Oregon Heisman Trophy winner, would be benched in favor of Ryan Tannehill, the starting quarterback. After Mariota was benched in last week’s shutout loss to the Denver Broncos, the game was played without him. He claimed earlier this week in an interview with the media that being benched won’t define or terminate his career. He told the Tennessee media, “My expectation was always to be the best player I could be for this team.” “And I’m going to believe I gave it everything I have till the day I die. Whatever happens, I’ll be able to learn and develop from it. This isn’t going to depress me. My career will not be jeopardized as a result of this. This is a chance for me to develop. And I intend to take advantage of it.” In six games of the 2019 regular season, he has gone 2-4. He’s completed 94 of 159 throws for 1,179 yards and seven touchdowns against two interceptions (59.1%). Tannehill, on the other hand, has only seen action in two games and has sparkled off the bench. He’s completed 13 of 16 passes (81.3 percent) for 144 yards and one interception, but he’s still without a touchdown.
