Marcus began playing basketball at a young age since his whole family is a fan of the NBA.

Senior High School 

Zegarowski was up in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, and attended Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. He must have been playing with his identical brother, Max, since he averaged 20 points every game.

Marcus guided the squad to their first-ever Division 4 state basketball title when they were teammates. Both brothers afterwards relocated to the Tilton School in Tilton, New Hampshire.

Following that, he guided the team to the Class AA title game for the second time. He was selected to the All-NEPSAC AA first team at the time.

Marcus averaged 23 points, five rebounds, and six assists a game over that time period.

He also earned the NEPSAC AA player of the year award as well as the Class AA title.

College

Marcus earned offers from Ohio State, Minnesota, and Washington before committing to the Creighton Bluejays men’s basketball team.

He was the team’s starting point guard, averaging 10.4 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game.

Marcus, meanwhile, set a career best with 32 points, five assists, and two steals versus Texas Tech.

He was also named to NBC Sports’ Second Team All-Big East and Second Team All-American teams.

Finally, he was selected Big East Player of the Year in the preseason.
