Professional Career

Trujillo made his professional debut with the UNAM Pumas in October 1996. Santos Laguna joined them after winning the Verano 2001 championship in 2001.

Trujillo returned to Pumas in 2001, where he stayed until the 2003 Apertura, when he was traded to Monarcas Morelia. He was a Morelia player until the 2007 Clausura.

In 2007, Mariano Trujillo signed a two-year contract with Skoda Xanthi of Greece, however he left the squad for personal reasons and played for Atlante in the Clausura 2008.

He signed with Chivas USA in March 2009, shortly before the start of the new season, and participated in 18 games and three substitute appearances for the team in his maiden season.

Furthermore, he remained with Chivas USA throughout the 2011 season. At the end of the season, the team declined his contract option for 2012. As a result, he was chosen in the 2011 Major League Soccer Re-Entry Draft. He became a free agent after being passed over in the draft.

He now works as a coach for the Jaguares de Chiapas, a Mexican soccer team.

Also he played two games for Mexico in 2003, scoring his only international goal in a friendly against Peru. He also played for Mexico’s U-20 team in the 1997 World Youth Championship in Malaysia.
