Retirement As A Result Of My Wife’s Illness

The WCCO-TV sports anchor had planned to retire in August of 2019. However, Mark’s wife’s life-threatening illness prompted him to consider retiring early in January 2019. In terms of disease, Denise was diagnosed with a brain tumor in July 2018 and underwent surgery to remove it. The anchor’s primary concern at the time was his wife’s health, so he took a month off from his hectic schedule to care for her.

In an interview with StarTribune on September 5, 2018, Mark shared his experience dealing with his wife’s cancer. “Without a doubt, this has been the worst month of my life.” Denise is currently recovering from her surgery in July 2018.
