Professional Career of Markieff Morris

Morris was chosen 13th overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 2011 NBA Draft. Marcus Morris, his twin brother, was drafted by the Houston Rockets five minutes later. However, his 2011-12 seasons were not as fruitful, as he suffered from a stomach virus in his first game against the New York Knicks.

He agreed to a multi-year contract extension with the Phoenix Suns on September 29, 2014. On November 17, 2014, he set a career-high with 30 points in a 118-114 win over the Boston Celtics. He also had a strong showing in the 2015-16 season.

On February 18, 2016, he was traded by the Phoenix Suns to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Kris Humphries, DeJuan Blair, and a 2016 Top-9 protected first-round draft pick. On September 22, 2017, he was ruled out for 6 to 8 weeks following surgery to repair a sports hernia.
