Early Years: Where was he born?

Marvis Frazier, the eldest son of Joe Frazier, was born on September 10, 1960, in Philadelphia. He grew up sitting ringside for his father’s fights but never wanted to fight himself. Frazier used to play basketball, football, and wrestle in addition to boxing.

Marvis was a running back for the Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School football team in Philadelphia. He only considered boxing when he was fifteen, since he wanted to reclaim the heavyweight title for his family. Marvis Frazier is the eldest of his father’s eleven children.

He had two siblings who were professional boxers: Jackie Frazier-Lyde and Joe Frazier Jr., also known as Hector Frazier. With the income their father had acquired from his career, the Frazier children grew up in luxury. As a result, unlike his father, who grew up impoverished, Marvis did not have to work for minimum pay and instead had a pleasant childhood.

What is the Professional Career of Marvis Frazier?

Marvis Frazier only began boxing to reclaim the heavyweight title that his father had previously won. Joe Frazier’s eldest kid began training at his father’s gym under George Benton and Val Colbert, whatever the reason for the start.

Frazier made his amateur debut in March 1977, defeating David Bey. He continued to win fights, and by February 1979, the United States Amateur Boxers and Coaches Association had him listed as the number two amateur heavyweight in the US. He even aspired to compete in the Olympics for the United States.

While his Olympic ambition was not realized, he did win a national amateur junior heavyweight title, a Golden Gloves title, and a national AAU tournament, and he had a 56-2 amateur record.

Marvis Frazier then turned professional, fighting twenty-one times and winning nineteen of them. He was knocked out in the first round in his fights with Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson. He fought Phillipp Brown in his final fight before retiring. Despite retiring from the sport early in his career, Frazier amassed a sizable fortune through the numerous fights he took part in.

Children And Marriage

Marvis Frazier married Daralyn Frazier at the height of his career. They married in 1983 and have two kids together, Tamyra Frazier and Tiara Frazier. The former professional boxer’s love life and relationship with his wife were kept under wraps.

Marvis lost his wife Daralyn, who was only 37 years old at the time, to colon cancer in 2001, after many years of marriage. Her spouse was left to look after their two girls. Frazier has supposedly found love again and is engaged to Pamela Banks, over two decades after her death. He is now the proud grandfather of three granddaughters and has a happy life.
