Matias Reyes

Matias Reyes is a serial rapist and American criminal best known for his involvement in the Central Park Jogger Case in New York. On the night of April 19, 1989, he raped and attempted to murder Trisha Meili in Manhattan’s Central Park’s North Woods. Trisha Meili, a 28-year-old investment banker, was raped and assaulted while jogging in Manhattan’s Central Park. She was nearly killed and placed in a coma for 12 days. This case is commonly referred to as the “Central Park Jogger Case.” Prior to this, in 1988, he committed his first crime and reared a woman, and later, in 1990, Reyes abused a lady in the pews of a 90th Street church. Fortunately, she was able to flee and seize him with the assistance of a neighbor until the police arrived.

Trisha Meili Biography

She was able to walk again after six months of rehabilitation, and she returned to work eight months after the attack. She had no recollection of the attack or any events that occurred up to an hour before the assault, nor of the six weeks that followed. Meili was never identified in the press following the attack and was simply referred to as the “Central Park Jogger.” She revealed her identity in 2003, published a memoir titled I Am the Central Park Jogger, and began a career as an inspirational speaker.
