Matthew J. Berry, the son of former Denver Mayor Nancy Berry and Texas A&M University professor Leonard Berry, was born on December 29, 1969, in Denver, Colorado. When he was a kid, his family traveled about a lot until landing in College Station, Texas, where he went to high school. Berry earned a bachelor’s degree in electronic media from Syracuse University in New York in 1992.

Matthew Berry started his career as an entertainment writer, working on shows such as Roseanne, Married… with Children, Desperate Housewives, and Last Man Standing, among others. Berry began a career in one of his interests, fantasy sports, after floundering in the entertainment sector. He began writing columns for RotoWorld.com, a fantasy sports website for which Berry worked from 1999 to 2003.
He went on to develop RotoPass.com and TalentedMrRoto.com, two fantasy sports websites. Berry also produced weekly fantasy sports essays for NBA.com and daily blogs for MLB.com during the peak of his fantasy websites. Berry also worked as the official Fantasy Sports Expert for Fox Sports Radio Network for two years and was the lead editor of NBA.com’s Fantasy Basketball Magazine in 2005 and 2006.
Berry joined ESPN in January 2005 and worked on ESPN Radio 710 in Los Angeles as a fantasy sports specialist. His public appearances increased in tandem with his success.
