Early Years and Education

American journalist Michael Barbaro was born on October 12, 1970. In 1998, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Yale University, a member of the Ivy League.

What is the Professional Career of Michael Barbaro?

He started working as a reporter for the Washington Post covering the biotechnology sector in 2002. Then, in 2005, he started working for The New York Times, where he began writing about topics like the retail sector and New York City Hall before finally becoming a political writer. Up until 2016, Barbaro’s career was solely devoted to writing.

Then, as Trump was running for president, he wrote an investigative article on the front page exposing Trump’s string of immoral actions with women in 2016. The piece lifted the veil, and he gained media attention when Trump phoned Barbaro and requested his resignation on Twitter.

Following that political outburst, the New York Times contacted Barbaro for a side project called The Run-Up podcast. Soon after, in 2017, he was in charge of The Daily, the NYT’s exclusive podcast.

One Year With ‘The Daily’

The Daily, the New York Times’ most successful project of the decade and one that Barbaro oversaw, was the subject of a 2018 Vanity Fair piece. The article discussed how Barbaro was initially selected as the podcast’s host due to his rather well-known persona and extensive investigative reporting.

Barbaro was sent to The Run-Up podcast for a brief experience while Lisa Tobin, the publishing company’s first audio executive editor, was the Daily’s producer. Barbaro’s final written publication in the magazine was in January 2017, however at the time he didn’t even listen to podcasts.

By the end of the year, the Daily had gained 1 million daily listeners and a steady 5 million monthly listeners, making it the “Most Downloaded” show on the Apple podcast. The Daily reportedly increased the Post’s 2017 income by over $2 billion, according to the Vanity Fair piece.

Due of their popularity, many people anticipated that Barbaro would accept other absurd hosting offers from other networks. Barbaro, on the other hand, spoke about his long-standing relationship with the Post and said that because he was raised within its walls, the organization had a strong hold over him.

“I moved in when I was 25 and really started acting like an adult here. The Times has a strong hold on me, despite all the generational debates about work loyalty and how institutions no longer have power over people.

In addition to the increase in listeners and popularity, the Daily was named the “Top Podcast of the Year” in 2017 by Time, Entertainment Weekly, The Atlantic, Esquire, Adweek, The New Yorker, and New York Magazine. Additionally, the audio quality won a “DuPont-Columbia University Award.”

Who is the Wife of Michael Barbaro?

The wife of Michael Barbaro was first married to Yale graduate and founder of Bespoke Education, Timothy George Levin. On October 19, 2014, they were wed at their New York apartment.
