The contract dispute with Top Rank:

Garcia filed a lawsuit against Top Rank in April 2014, citing his dissatisfaction with his purses. He relinquished his WBO belt and announced his return to the ring under a new Top Rank deal. The main issue was that he was having trouble staying under the 130-pound restriction. Garcia and Top Rank eventually came to an arrangement. He didn’t return to the ring for another two and a half years.

Light Welterweight:

Garcia returned to the ring two and a half years later in July 2016 to face former world featherweight champion Elio Rojas. In the fifth round, he knocked out Rojas.

Lightweight:

In January 2017, he challenged undefeated WBC champion Dejan Zlaticanin. He became a three-weight world champion after knocking out Dejan in the third round. Against Garcia, Dejan suffered his first professional defeat.
