He is highly known for his midfield work with both the Egypt national team and Premier League side Arsenal. After joining Arsenal, he made his Premier League debut in 2016. Mohamed Elneny began his football career as a young player with Al Ahly. He later switched to Al Mokawloon for the 2010–2011 season, where he eventually established himself as a regular starter.
Basel
Mohamed was asked by FC Basel to attend their training camp in Estepona from January 14 to 24, 2013, where he made his unofficial debut on January 18 in a friendly game against Steaua Bucuresti, which ended in a 1-1 tie. On 29 January 2013, it was revealed that he had signed a loan agreement with Basel that would last until the end of June 2013. On 10 February 2013, he made his official Basel debut during the 3-0 home victory over Sion, coming on as a halftime substitution.
