Mohamed Naser Elsayed Elneny, also known as Mohamed Elneny, is a professional football player from Egypt. Al Mokawloon

Mohamed Elneny began his football career as a young player with Al Ahly. He later switched to Al Mokawloon for the 2010–2011 season, where he eventually established himself as a regular starter.

Basel

Mohamed was asked by FC Basel to attend their training camp in Estepona from January 14 to 24, 2013, where he made his unofficial debut on January 18 in a friendly game against Steaua Bucuresti, which ended in a 1-1 tie. On 29 January 2013, it was revealed that he had signed a loan agreement with Basel that would last until the end of June 2013. On 10 February 2013, he made his official Basel debut during the 3-0 home victory over Sion, coming on as a halftime substitution. At the conclusion of the 2012–2013 Swiss Super League season, he won the Championship with Basel and finished second in the Swiss Cup as well as the UEFA Europa League.

Basel made it as far as the semifinals, where they faced Chelsea, the current champions of the UEFA Champions League, however they were eliminated after losing both of their home matches and going down 2-5 overall. Basel declared in May 2013 that they have exercised their right to sign the Egyptian midfielder on a long-term contract. He agreed to a four-year contract that runs until June 30, 2017. Elneny made his Basel debut on April 16, 2014, scoring the game-winning goal in a 4-2 victory over Zurich at St. Jakob-Park. He and Basel won the league title at the end of the 2013–2014 Super League season.

Basel made it to the group stage and took third place in their group during the 2013–2014 Champions League season. Basel played a total of 68 games in the 2013–2014 season, and Mohamed appeared in 55 of them, including 32 League, 4 Cup, 6 Champions League, 6 Europa League, and 7 Test matches. In the league, he only managed that single goal. Elneny and FC Basel had a very good season in 2014–2015 because they won the title for the sixth consecutive year and advanced to the Swiss Cup final.

Following a 3-3 draw with Liverpool, where Mohamed made his club debut in a 2-1 victory over Burnley in the fourth round of the FA Cup on January 30, becoming the first Egyptian to play for Arsenal, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed the signing of Elneny from FC Basel on January 13. In the defeat against FC Barcelona in the Round of 16 of the Champions League, he scored his first Arsenal goal.

He scored his first goal of the 2017–2018 campaign on December 7, 2017, at the Emirates Stadium in the Europa League Group Stage game against FC BATE Borisov, which the home team won 6-0. In the first leg of Arsenal’s round-of-32 Europa League match against Ostersunds FK on February 15, Elneny once more put on a solid performance, and as a result, he was named player of the game for his efforts in a 3-0 away triumph. On March 26, 2018, he extended his contract with Arsenal. On April 8, 2018, he was dismissed against Southampton.

Loan to Besiktas

On August 31, 2019, he later signed a season-long loan agreement with Besiktas J.K., which included a possible buyback clause. International Career

A key contributor to the National Under-23 team’s qualification for the 2012 Olympics, Mohamed Elneny participated in all four games as they advanced to the round of eight before losing to Japan.

He made his full international debut against Sierra Leone in September 2011 and scored his first goal for Egypt in a friendly match against Jamaica on June 4, 2014. He participated in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon with the Egypt National First Nation, helping the team finish in second place and earn a spot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
