Myles Kennedy’s career as a musician began when he became the principal guitarist with the Cosmic Dust Fusion Band in 1990. The next year, they released Journey, which was well-received by both critics and the general audience. Kennedy soon left the group and became the lead guitarist and vocalist for Citizen Swing. They released Cure Me with the Groove, their debut studio album, in 1993.
In 1996, he and his childhood friends Zia Uddin, Marty Meisner, and Craig Johnson formed the rock band The Mayfield Four. They also published their music album, Fallout, the same year they signed a contract with Epic Records. In 1997, they released a live extended play called Motion. Kennedy starred alongside Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston in the 2001 movie Rock Star. Their second and only studio album, Second Skin, was released in the same year.
In 2003, he became a member of the rock band Alter Bridge, which was started by Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti. Their first album, One Day Remains, was released by Wind-Up Records in 2004.
