On March 2, Nate provided an explanation for his actions on Twitter, @NateSchatzline, with the title “response to media posting a class project from my teenage years.” You just have to chuckle sometimes.”

He claims that the “Left Wing news media has done exactly what they do.” He even accused the media of distorting news and stories to make them appear to be something they are not.

Schatzline stated in a video that it was simply “some class project” he completed as a youngster. He claimed that his “buddies” “dared” him to wear a dress, so he did.

The congressman further fueled issues by saying at the end of the film, “let’s have fun with it.” This has prompted more criticism, as he sees drag as “a sexually oriented business,” but when he does it, it’s something to “have fun with.”

“Are you really going crazy over me wearing a dress as a joke for a theatre project back in school?” That is not a sexually explicit drag show… “Lol y’all will twist ANYTHING,” Nate tweeted.

He also stated that the true purpose of making drag shows illegal in his state is to “ban sexually explicit shows and preserve the innocence of next-generation Texas.”
