Ng was born in Kuala Lumpur to Chinese Malaysian parents of Hokkien ancestry.

Ng is best known for his comedic persona Uncle Roger, who speaks with a strong Cantonese accent and takes great pride in many East Asian stereotypes. His comedy partner Evelyn Mok created the character of the middle-aged Asian uncle for a sitcom with Ng in mind, and Ng further developed the character on TikTok and Instagram sketches before moving the character to YouTube.

Ng gained attention in July 2020 for his YouTube video critique of Hersha Patel’s BBC Food video on cooking egg-fried rice in the Uncle Roger persona.

Ng uploaded his first Chinese video to Bilibili, a Chinese video-sharing website, on January 2, 2021.

On January 12, Ng apologized on the Chinese social media platform Sina Weibo and deleted a video that featured fellow YouTube star Mike Chen ([26]) – who has been critical of the Communist Party of China and has also been associated with Falun Gong. “This video has had a negative social impact… I was unaware of his political views or his previous incorrect remarks about China… I hope you will give Uncle Roger, who has recently arrived in China, a chance to improve! ” Ng’s decision drew criticism on Twitter. According to one user, the comedian was “disgracefully sacrificing his basic morality to pander to his China fans.” Ng’s response on Instagram included the words “I’m not bowing down to anyone” and the suggestion that instead of “sending me nasty things,” critics should simply unfollow him.  In his first subsequent video as Uncle Roger, he stated that he would “continue to make funny videos – no politics, no drama.”-
